Dollar Car Hire

Our experiences of Dollar car hire in America

JFK Airport Terminal 7
USAOur review
We choose Dollar for car rental for our trip to Atlantic City, we landed at JFK airport terminal 7 and made our way on the air train to federal circle where all the car rental offices are based. It was then we found out that that Dollar were sharing offices with Hertz during a refit. The initial part of filling out the paperwork was simple enough, as per normal they try and sell you all sorts of add ons, we had arrange to get the additional insurances with Bettersafe before leaving the UK we did add on plate pass to cover all toll roads so we wouldn’t have to worry what route we took.
When the paperwork was complete you have to go outside and show your documentation to the Hertz representative who then organised to get the car brought to you. Always remember to do a walk round the car to check for damage, we video it to make sure we have proof. After setting up Android Auto so we could use the TomTom Go app for our satalite navigation, at the time of writting it costs us £15 a year but we do use it when travelling to work and back so it was another saving and also gave us traffic info when on the move.
Returning the vehicle was the trickiest part as there was a lot of traffic and road works. On return you just park it up in line give a couple of bits of information to the attendant and that is you done, we made our way back to the air train and made our way back to our terminal.

USAOur review
We have used Dollar car rental in America on three occasions up to when this review was written. We have picked up vehicles at three different locations and on each occasion, it was very easy and relatively painless, we registered with the Dollar Express program prior to travel which allowed us to go straight to the collection point and completed the paperwork there. At each of the rental points, the vehicle we booked was available.
